Job Description:
JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Second Shift 

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing quality nursing care within Primrose Retirement Communities, ensuring that residents’ needs are met in accordance with standards of practice through physician orders; Primrose policies and procedures; federal, state, and local regulations; and established nursing best practices. Through a collaborative and person-centered approach, the Staff Nurse enables each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.  

JOB DUTIES:  

  • Delivers compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as assigned. Expected to teach and guide medication aides and nursing assistants to promote optimal resident health and a team culture of Accountability and Relentless Improvement 

  • Assists with ensuring timely completion of resident assessments and service plans at pre-admission, admission, 30 days, semi-annually, and with change of condition or at intervals specified by State regulations. Contributes observations and health information to the nursing assessment  

  • Monitors the status of chronic illness, including early observation of and intervention for any change in health status. Educates residents and families on disease and management of chronic illnesses and conditions 

  • Assists in evaluating whether the community can meet each resident’s clinical needs, which includes a potential new admission to the facility, a current resident, or the transfer of a resident from the community 

  • Responsible for day-to-day resident medication management according to Primrose Policies and Procedures and State and Federal guidelines. Evaluates the resident’s response to medication and treatment plan 

  • Assists in coordination of care with external providers (such as home health, hospice, and therapy providers) and physicians. Assists in monitoring the care residents receive through third party providers, assuring documentation requirements are met 

  • Promotes, establishes, and maintains customer relationships with resident, families, staff, community, and other professionals 

  • Markets the community through tours and collaborates with team to conduct special events 

  • Assists with ensuring appropriate delegation activities to non-licensed nursing staff as outlined by the State Board of Nursing and specific state regulations 

  • Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication 

  • Maintains confidentiality within the workplace with all written and verbal communications pertaining to residents, staff, and community operations 

  • If providing care in a Primrose Memory Care community, actively engages and assists in ensuring person-centered approaches with programing and behavioral expressions are carried out per Primrose Memory Care Program 

  • Performs any other reasonable related duties as assigned by Director of Nursing or Executive Director 

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Current, active nursing license in the state where the community is located 

  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations 

  • Meet annual continuing education hours required for nursing license if applicable 

  • Experience in a long-term care or assisted living environment is preferred  

  • Knowledge of current state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing as an RN/LPN/LVN in an assisted living setting 

  • Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities 

  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias, and related memory impairments is preferred 

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team 

  • Basic knowledge of computer software and programs. Able to work varying hours 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Prolonged periods with standing and walking. Must be able to navigate efficiently around the building 

  • Must be able to reach, stoop, bend, carry and manipulate various items 

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds 

  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of all company-related practices and policies
