Shift: PRN Job Type: Part-Time   Introduction: HCF believes each employee makes a significant contribution to the quality of life of our residents and the success of the organization. It is HCF’s expectation that each individual will be flexible in offering their services to ensure the highest quality care to our residents.   Position Summary: Prepares meals according to the daily menu and diet specifications in-order to ensure successful completion of daily meal service operations   Essential Functions:

  • Must be in good physical condition as the position requires the ability to stand on one’s feet throughout the day, as well as, push, pull, move and/or lift repetitively during working hours.

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language
  Position Responsibilities:
  • Must follow all federal, state and local regulations and standards and care community policies and procedures
  • Must meet job related competencies as outlined in the Skills Competency Manual for Cook
  • Ensures proper preparation, portioning and serving of meals
  • Maintains an accurate log of food temperatures daily
  • Prepares food according to recipe and ensures palatability
  • Prepares and serves all foods for liberal therapeutic diets according to planned menus
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and areas of the kitchen according to established policies and procedures
  • Operates all food service equipment safely
  • Attend required in-service education
  • All other duties as assigned
  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write, make simple calculations and follow oral or written instructions. A high school diploma is preferred. ServSafe beneficial.   Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Nutrition Services personnel in the absence of the Nutrition Services Supervisor.   Personal Appearance: Must keep yourself neat, clean and well groomed. Must wear the prescribed uniform and ensure its neatness and cleanliness. Jewelry must be conservative in nature in order to reduce the risk of resident and employee injury. No rings are to be worn. Must wear identification name badge.   Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully meet the essential functions of the job.  
  • Physical Demands: Must be in good physical condition as the job requires the ability to carry out the following demands on a daily basis: Bending, Carrying, Climbing, Kneeling, Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Squatting, Standing, Stretching, Walking, Communication (Written and Verbal).
 
  • Work Environment: Works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated kitchen. May be exposed to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerator and freezer. Kitchen equipment may present potential injuries and hazards i.e. hot cooking surfaces, sharp objects. As a Cook you may be subject to handling hazardous chemicals. You may also be subject to emotionally upset residents, family members, visitors, vendors and personnel.
