Job Description:
Responsible for tearing down and setting up an injection molding machine for a job changeover. Starting of an injection molding machine, answering alarm conditions, and successfully re-starting the machine. Responsible for maintaining all molds and molding machines.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform mold set-ups and tear downs for all Molding jobs according to the Job Change Over Checklist.
  • Ensure that all proper procedures have been followed prior to job start up and at job close.
  • Follow set up sheets & water diagrams
  • Start up all Molding jobs according to the Molding Schedule.
  • Set-up of all part handling equipment, chutes, conveyors, fans, etc. to ensure product is free of damage and contained.
  • Cleaning of hoppers and loader hoses to prevent contamination prior to start-up.
  • Crane & tow motor operation
  • Minor equipment maintenance
  • Attend daily production meetings to communicate any issues from previous day or issues with meeting current schedule. Give communication as needed at shift change over.
  • Ensure that all molds and molding equipment receive regular maintenance and are scheduled for Preventative Maintenance to keep them running efficiently and to prevent major downtime, damage or wear.
  • Maintain the mold set up cart and ensure all tools are organized and easily accessible for changeovers.
  • Follow all work instructions provided in each part Production Plan.
  • Document all events, alarms, issues, etc. that take place during a job on the In-Process Event Log.
  • Ensure that the Molding area around the presses receives daily maintenance and clean up per Housekeeping work instructions.
  • Initiate requests for any Molding Equipment to be repaired, maintained or calibrated.
  • Ensure that all tool and machine Preventative Maintenance is performed as scheduled.
  • Ensure proper tagging of tools at all times.
  • Ensure that the correct material called out on the BOM’s is being used to run the job.
  • Maintain materials during a job in the press hoppers and other equipment.
  • Ensure that all runners and re-useable scrap material is controlled and properly ground.
  • Program all dryers to dry material according to specifications for each job.
  • Other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Mold-Setter experience preferred.   A successful mold-setter will be: Mechanically inclined Self-motivated Organized Able to follow instructions well Quick learner Reliable
