Job Summary

Do you take pride in building something from the ground up? Brown Industrial, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team in Botkins, Ohio. As a Metal Fabricator, you'll transform raw steel into custom truck bodies, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment used in the rendering, recycling, and organic waste industries. Working from blueprints and shop drawings, you'll measure, cut, fit, and assemble structural components that become the foundation of every unit we build. Whether you're an experienced fabricator or someone with strong mechanical aptitude looking to grow your skills, we offer the opportunity to build quality equipment in a stable, family-owned manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Steel Fabrication: Measure, cut, drill, grind, and prepare steel components using saws, presses, ironworkers, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret fabrication drawings, prints, and work orders to ensure parts are built accurately and efficiently.
  • Fit-Up & Assembly: Assemble and fit structural components, subassemblies, and truck body sections prior to welding and final assembly.
  • Layout & Measuring: Perform precise layout work using tape measures, squares, levels, and other measuring tools to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Material Handling: Safely move steel and fabricated components using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Quality Control: Inspect fabricated parts for proper dimensions, fit, and quality before moving them to the next stage of production.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with welders, painters, finishers, and engineering to maintain production schedules and deliver high-quality products.
Qualifications:

Qualifications & Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or welding preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team.
