Job Description:
Description:   The Landscape Foreman is responsible for installation and management of landscape and hardscape projects.  The foreman is responsible for completing landscape and hardscape installations with great precision and business minded efficiency.  The foreman is experienced and capable of working with minimal supervision.  The foreman is responsible for performing a variety of landscaping duties and for assisting the landscape team in performing their landscape duties for residential and commercial customers.   Skill Set  
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Reputable driving record
  • Proficient heavy equipment operating skills including front-end loaders, mini-excavators, and skid steer machinery with various attachments; other equipment as needed
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in landscaping implementation process
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in installing a variety of hardscape applications
  • Knowledge of perennials, shrubs, evergreens, and trees; identification and cultural requirements
  • Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is detail orientated
  • Excellent attention to detail while working in a fun, fast-paced environment
  • Verbal and written communication skills; able to read and write
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to work weekend, holiday, and overtime hours as needed to accomplish goals and objectives; available for long hours all year round
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Able to work effectively with individuals of differing knowledge and background
  • Clean and professional appearance
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  The landscape foreman may be exposed to any or all of the following job-related hazards:  
  • Stress-related to job function
  • Hazards related to computer usage including but not limited to eye strain, back strain, carpel tunnel syndrome, etc.
  • Other standard office and workplace hazards
  • Hazards relating to environmental elements including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, grasses, dirt, bugs, plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, dust, and pollen
  • Frequent exposure to fertilizers, fumes, and lawncare chemicals
  • Daily travel on public roadways to and from job sites and, as needed, operating a motor vehicle (with or without trailer) on public roadways
  • Ability to efficiently and safely operate a variety of mechanical equipment and hand or power tools including but not limited to articulating loader, skid steers, mini skid steers, string trimmers, bed edgers, rototillers, gas-powered sheers, plant augers, chainsaws, backpack blowers, small/medium/large duty trucks with manual or automatic transmission, and truck and trailer combinations
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 80 lbs.
  • Crawling, kneeling, sitting, twisting, pushing, pulling, walking, crouching, grasping, bending, reaching
  • Decision-making, mental alertness, visual acuity, oral communication, hand-eye coordination
  Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour   Required Licenses  
  • Valid Ohio’s drivers license that is not currently suspended or revoked
  • Willingness to participate in educational training and certifications required for job performance
  Job Duties and Functions  
  • Supervise and assist Landscape crew direction, training, and monitoring the work of assigned team member
  • Ensure all daily tasks are completed on schedule and according to quality standards
  • Ensure each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment
  • Participates in and conducts all job site safety briefings with crew members
  • Ensure all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment
  • Ensure team members are aware of and abide by company policies, processes, and procedures including but not limited to standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and work rules
  • Assist crew with planning and organizing jobs, ensuring the necessary resources and materials are available in sufficient quantities and time is managed efficiently
  • Ensures that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including job sites and equipment
  • Immediately report any damaged, broken, missing, or malfunctioning equipment and/or any safety concerns to the supervisor and/or mechanic
  • Maintain and monitor the vehicle and equipment fluid levels and ensure that the vehicle is in proper working condition prior to use; Clean the vehicle as needed; perform daily safety inspections
  • Assist crew with client interactions by introducing team members at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to client requests, making reasonable adjustments to the plan and performing a walk-though with the client when the job is completed
  • Brief the supervisor and offer recommendations related to job status, personnel issues, and/or client concerns; report any violations of company policies, safety protocols, or SOPs to the landscape team leader; proactively provide information whenever possible in order to resolve issues early-on
  • Understands financial aspects of each job assignment
  • Leads by example; follows directions from supervisor
  • Strives to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility
  • Assist crew with completing required forms, reports, and paperwork
  • Track and record all job expenses and hours worked accurately
  • Drive company truck to job sites to transport team members, materials, and equipment
  • Coordinate the unloading and loading of materials and equipment at each job site
  • Read landscaping blueprints, review landscaping plans, implement plan according to specifications
  • Be flexible to help on any crew needed per management discretion
  • Help remove snow during winter months as needed
  • Apply chemicals under the direction of the licensed commercial applicator
