Job Description:
DEPARTMENT:  VMCCC SUPERVISOR: Director of Event Services EMP STATUS: Full Time FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Pay: $13-$15 per hour   NORMAL WORK HOURS: as the VMCCC is a 24-7 operation, work hours vary according to events held at the facility.  This is a Full time position working a 40 hour week, days and hours will vary based on events.   General Purpose of the Job: The Events Services Leader directs, coordinates and participates in the general cleaning, set up and strike down of all convention center events which include, but are not limited to the following:   FACILITY READINESS
  • Cleaning includes pre, during and post event trash pick-up and removal and cleaning.
  • Control and maintain housekeeping equipment such as brooms, mops, buckets, gloves, bags and cleaning solutions, man-lift, floor scrubber, dishwashing equipment.
  EQUIPMENT READINESS
  • Maintains proper supplies, tools and equipment to ensure efficient operation of the facility within budget.
  • Safety regulations with staff including proper use of chemicals and in accordance with MSDS.
  • Convention center/theater housekeeping and conversions as needed.
  • Support with light maintenance during slow periods.
FACILITY SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT
  • Coordinates pre-event room set-ups to adhere to event orders both written and oral.
  • Support client events, this includes hospitality services, concessions, temperature, A-V.
  Other Duties assigned
  • Adhere to all VMCCC policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Participate on VMCCC’s team for annual report and annual volunteer appreciation dinner.

Computer skills to include office software, custom business software.  Experience in hospitality/event services, customer service. Perform with minimal supervision.   Language Skills: Ability to read documents and to effectively present information to various audiences.  Will be required to deal with the public in a professional manner.   Mathematical Skills: Must be able to calculate figures and amounts.   Reasoning Ability: Solve problems and deal with a variety of variables, use of common sense approach to reason.   Physical Demands The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Will be required to do prolonged standing; lift up to 50 lbs; load and unload 100 lb. from truck; wear proper safety clothing and gear when needed; safely use equipment such as a man-lift, lifting portable staging, running dishwashers, and possible theater work such as lifting weights, pulling lines, and walking 20 feet or higher off ground; limited work in all climates of outdoor weather; work variable hours to include weekends and holidays based upon work load and schedule; follow the policy and procedures set forth by the VMCCC.  Will be required to perform all job tasks using Federal, State, County and VMCCC safety guidelines and precautions.  Stamina to work long hours and to multitask when needed or where applicable.   Additional Information: The Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center gives a preference in hiring to honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces.   To Apply: Submit cover letter, resume, and references to [email protected]
