Job Description:
Essential Function and Responsibilities: Support equipment / die downtime in the Aluminum Die Cast Department, a dynamic fast-paced environment.  Develop and support die improvement projects.  Support weekend and shutdown die maintenance activities.  Support training of other die service associates. Support of the engineering group in short / long term projects. Support machine checks, preventative maintenance duties, line troubleshooting and reporting of problems and repairs. Daily Tasks: Positions available in High Pressure (cylinder block) and Low Pressure (cylinder head) casting.  Respond to equipment / die downtime and recovery issues.  Monitor equipment / die for potential problem identification (water leaks, hydraulic leaks, broken components, quality issues). Perform quality & running efficiency improvements to the dies. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance plans & activities (TIG weld and hand finish back to print, replace cores, pins, bolts, misc. components at set intervals). Maintain COP of work area and department issued tools. Observe and promote all department safety policies. Quality confirmation of completed work (3D Laser Scan, visual comparisons, CMM confirmations, communication with quality and engineering teams). Perform troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (the dies).
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to analyze die & process problems and implement repairs & countermeasures
    • Hydraulic cylinder issues
    • Mechanical issues
    • Ability to weld & hard finish (precision grind)
    • Demonstrate solid troubleshooting skills
    • General computer skills
    • General electrical troubleshooting
    • General machine tool knowledge
    • Understanding of 2D drawings (3D model experience a plus)
    • Ability to communicate effectively within the organization 
    • Ability to be a self-starter, learn on a continual basis, train others and work well in a team atmosphere.
Required Experience:
  • Experience in the mechanical and/or die mold maintenance field (including Co-op experience).
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Casting Department – Typically hot and dirty
  • 5-10 Hours OT / Week, includes weekends and shutdown
  • 1 week domestic travel potential per year for training
  • Flexibility to work 2nd or 3rd shift long term (5+ Years)
