Resources Officers enforce laws on ODNR property to not only keep users of the natural
resources safe but also to preserve Ohio’s natural resources for future generations.

• Education and Public Relations: Natural Resources Officers teach the public as well as
other recreational and conservation groups in formal as well as casual settings. They
provide media interviews promoting an array of educational information for boating safety
and natural resources conservation. The ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft is the
lead agency for Ohio maritime security and instructs other state, county and municipal
agencies in maritime law enforcement.

• Emergency Response: The ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft supports emergency
operations during flooding, natural disasters, search and rescue situations, and recovery
situations.

Qualifications:

• Completion of associate core program in a natural resources area (parks and recreation,
forestry, fisheries, wildlife, environmental, conservation biology, or criminal justice/law
enforcement) OR 18 months training/experience in a natural resources area (parks and
